When you visit Egypt, one of the major landmarks is the Colossi of Memnon, which makes tours here very interesting and extremely memorable. It is said that Amenhotep III constructed a mortuary temple in Thebes. Two statues guarded this temple on the entry gates. Today we see a 23 meter (75ftt) high collection of structures of the statues of Amenhotep III. They have been ruined by ancient tourists and nature yet the statues until today are very fascinating and impressive.

These two statues guarding the temple on the outside are known by the name of “Ruler of Rulers’. Then they began to be called Tammy and Shammy, which it is believed, comes from the words “left” and “right.” Today the tourists call the statues “Es-Salamat” and “El-Colossat.” Made out of quartzite blocks brought from either Gebel es-Silsila and Giza these statures depict the family history of Amenhotep. The statues depict Amenhotep III with his mother Mutemwia while the southern statue shows Amenhotep III with his wife Tiy. One of his daughters is also shown in it. There are many structures showing the Nile gods meeting together which symbolizes Upper and Lower Egypt.

The statues came to be known for a bell like tone that they used to evoke and it used to occur in the morning. This is said to be a result of the humidity and temperatures. So they got compared with the figure of Memnon who was the son of Aurora the son Eos who was the Egyptian goddess of dawn. If you are given a song then it meant that you are in favour of gods. It is said that Septimius Severus wanted to repair the statues in the year 199 AD and he silenced them for ever by mistake.

Legend has it that after an earthquake in the year 27 BC a portion of the northern colossus broke down and from that time the statue started evoking a very peculiar musical sound. Roman and Greek tourists came to hear the sound and named the statue Memnon who was a Trojan hero who was the son of Titan and Eros. Memnon is said to have sung a song to his mother every morning at dawn. It is said that the musical sound is produced by the effect of the sun falling on the stone, which resulted in the sound being produced. When Septimus Severus tried to repair the statue in the third century, the singing suddenly stopped. So the entire region of western Thebes began to be called Memonia.

Each statue rests on a huge plinth made of granite. Behind the statues on the columns, you find written texts of Amenhotep III and on the lateral sides; you would find scenes depicting the sma symbol. The legs of the king’s statues are bordered by images of queen Tiye, the Great Royal Wife and Queen Mutemwiya. his mother

Kircher the Germany company is involved in cleaning the colossi of Memnon and it has been trying to uncover all the grime and paint of thousands of years.

Visit Ghardaia and enjoy the pleasures of a great land filled with the best tour delight in this part of Africa. Visit Melika here, and this is surely worth the visit and this is not as well known as Ghardaia yet is a great tour locale in this part of the world. Anyone who comes here for the first time is sure to get overawed by the sheer architectural genius of the structures here, the people here are also very warm and welcoming and make tours here very interesting.

Then of course there is Beni Isguen which is another place which provides great tour delights. The city is isolated due to the fortifications. They look like a military construction. The walls look real near the doors of the main city.

Then there is Wilaya which is the place where the wali stays this is the most important administrative building in this part of Ghardaia and is located on the squared market place . The place is very popular in tours to this part of Africa.

Visit the Sid Brahim mosque here which is a very famous spot here. This structure with the slanting pillars, the ceilings, the windows, and the palm tree trunk ceiling structures surely make sure that the visitor would surely love to come back here again. One feels to stay here for long hours and the heat outside wouldn’t deter a tourist from enjoying here.

The Sidi Brahim mosque is a solid building and it is quite cool inside. This mosque in fat inspired Le Corbusier to build a very famous church in France, Ronchamp the style, the design, are very stunning and this environment is filled with best tour delights.

Then there are the cemeteries, which are found outside the cities. these old structures are really not well maintained and they have grave plates. Here we have some good remains of pottery and the cemetery looks like a lovely field where the rock s are seen to grow in a particular pattern. The place is hot and the graves do not have any flowers

Gharadaia has narrow streets and they are seen to be very steep. The children are seen playing in the streets and the pastel colours only are very soothing to the eyes. North African cities normally have an unplanned telephone and electricity plan and this is seen even in Ghardaia.

Restaurants in Ghardaia are very common and in spite of being a big city , there are not many of them here. But those that are there cater to the need of the tourists and are quite popular. the dishes that are popular here are the couscous and th shorba . Green tea is also very much a favourite here

The best way one can reach Ghardaia is either by driving yourself. Drive from Algiers and cross the lovely regions of the High Plateau and the Atlas. Then you would traverse Bidskra and you would surely love to see the sight of the true Desert. As you find the scenic ambience here embracing you with its beauty, the tours here are sure to give you a lot of travel quotient.

Seeing donkeys here is another unique sight. So these donkeys that carry almost everything are regular sight here. You would see the sight of donkeys carrying loads, and vegetables on their back.

Ghardaia also has a lot of wells which are a major feature here. these wells are found within the cities and their design are very much like the ones in the oasis. People are seen to gather around the wells here and have a chat. The well thus forms an interesting sight in travels here.

Tourists coming here also find the sight of older people sitting in a caht very interesting. These are umbrellas used by the elders here to relax in their buildings. No one seems to be in a hurry here . also see the Berbere carpets which are a great part of the life here and provide the tourists with what he seeks for in tours

The sight of the minaret here and the market alongwith is a great delight. Tourists get to see the general idea of how life is here in Mozabite and like to see the compact city with the busy people, high minaret and lovely umbrellas. There are women everywhere and here in Ghardaia it is the men who go to shop.

There is something intriguing and interesting about the African travels. The sheer delight of being in a land of the African extravaganza itself sets the tone for your tours here. So as you come here and enjoy the pleasures of the country, visit Algiers and go back with the greatest travel memories.

For here is where you would surely find the best kind of travel sights and the most fascinating architectural forms. So come here and see the many public buildings of interest. This includes the Kasbah quarter and the Martyrs Square besides of course the government offices which are considered to be true works of art. So you also have the Ketchaoua Mosques, the Roman Catholic cathedral and the Bardo Museum here which all come under the great Algiers buildings. Add to the Turkish place which was constructed in the years 1799 to 1800 and you have the perfect foundation for a lovely architetectural tour of the place.

Kasbah is the main building in Algiers and was constructed in the year 1516. This is the site of a building that was here earlier and was the palace of the deys till the French conquered this place. Today there is a road that has been cut through the centre of the entire building, and where the mosque has been turned into barracks and the hall of audience is all in ruins. There is a minaret that is there still and there are a collection of arches and columns made of marble today. There are also proofs which show that vaults were here to store the treasures of the Dey.

There is the Great Mosque the oldest in Algiers. Built by Yusuf Ibn Tashfin, this has been constructed many times. The pulpit has an inscription that shows that the building existed here in the year 1097. The entire minaret was made by the Sultan of Tlmencen in the year 1324. The mosque is very beautiful in the interiors and has many aisles and columns that are joined by the Moorish arches.

Then there is the new Mosque which belongs to the 17th century and is a Greek cross and mounted o a cupolas which is white in colour. There are four small cupolas in the corners and the 90 feet minaret is a lovely structure that resembles the Grand Mosque a lot.

Then you have the Holy Trinity church which was constructed in the year 1870 and is at the southern end of the Rue D’Isly and is near the site of the Fort Bab AZoum which is a demolished site. The inner part is totally decorated with a lot of coloured marbles. These marbles have a lot of inscriptions which are linked t the British residents who lived here in Algiers before.

Then visit the Ketchaoua Mosque which is at the base of the Casbah and existed before the independence in the year 1962. It was the cathedral of St. Phillipe and it was made in the year 1845 from a mosque which was built sometime in 1612. The main entrance is reached by a flight of around 23 steps and is decorated with a portico that is supported by four marble columns with black veins. The roof of the nave is made of Moorish plaster work. The roof rests on a series of arcades and this is supported by white marble columns. There are many columns that belong to the original mosque. There was a tomb having the bones of San Geromino on one of the chapels and this is a lovely blend of Byzantine and Moorish styles.

There are a lot of law, science, medicine Colleges and the buildings are handsome and large. The Bardo Museum in Tunisia is one that has many ancient sculptures and also Algerian mosaics with a lot of money and medals.

Algiers is a walled city from the time of the deys till the 19th century ends. The French occupied the city and built many ramparts, parapets and ditches and forts too. Today it is a great tourist’s locale and an ideal travel destination.

Conrad Cairo hotel is located in the city center around the banks of the river Nile. If you ask people, who have already experienced a short or long stay in this Cairo hotel, you will get positive remarked from majority of them. Inspite of being quite a big hotel housing as many as 617 rooms, this hotel will never allow to get disturbed by the city’s hustle and bustle. However, this unruffled hotel is probably one of the best places to stay in if you want to get easy access towards the busiest parts of the city.

Conrad Cairo belongs to the family of Hilton luxury hotels. The city of Cairo has no shortage of luxury hotels; but this one surely offers something extra, especially to the people visiting the city for business purposes. If you are traveling in large groups or visiting the city along with all your family members, there can be few better places to stay in Cairo than the Conrad. However, according to some, this hotel’s utter sophisticated setup makes it a little less suitable for groups comprising of only teenagers.

Conrad houses a number of meeting rooms; you can book meeting packages and organize business events in this hotel. There is also a business center, which includes translation and secretarial services. Staffs of Conrad Cairo are perfectly trained and possess years of experience of managing meeting and conventions efficiently. Business travelers living in this hotel will get to stay in well appointed rooms that are equipped with advanced amenities and tranquil surroundings. Most of these rooms will have balconies facing the River Nile. The amenities incorporated in these rooms include: mini bars, data ports, multiple telephones, work desks, safes etc. The décor of the attached bathrooms of these hotel rooms is also worth mentioning; the bathrooms are designed lavishly with marble flooring and all the contemporary accessories.

Ras Mohammed National Park is located in Egypt; to be more precise the national park is situated on the extreme south of Sinai Peninsula. On the west of Ras Mohammed, there’s Gulf of Suez and on its east, there’s Gulf of Aqaba. In this article we’ll be discussing about the history and the current status of the Ras Mohammed National Park.

During the time when Egypt got back Sinai Peninsula, actions like fishing and other similar human activities got prohibited in this national park. Certain methods used for fishing, for instance using knives and dynamites were also affecting the coral reefs; besides that the effects of these activities on the fish population of this region was quite obvious. In the year 1983, the area was declared as marine reserve that was meant for protecting both terrestrial and marine wildlife. The Ras Mohammed National Park was established also for protecting the wildlife from urban sprawls and coastal developments.

Ras Mohammed is one of the most visited tourist destinations of North Africa. The primary reason behind the extreme popularity of this park is its location. Ras Mohammed is located in a territory of Red Sea Riviera that houses the biggest share of the tourist population coming to this part of the world. It is situated 12Km away from the actual city area. The national park covers 480 km², out of which 135 km² is land and 345 km² is water. Ras Mohammed houses a tiny bay inlet called Marsa Bareika. The other bay inlet of the region is known as Marsa Ghozlani; it is situated adjacent to the visitors’ center of the park. Two islands namely Sanafir and Tiran are encompassed by this national park.

If you are planning to visit Ras Mohammed National Park, you must be aware of the average climatic conditions of the place. This region boasts a remarkably dry climate; sparse rainfall occurs only during winter months. The best time of visiting this place is winter as during the summer months the temperature becomes extremely high.

Fes or Fez is the most ancient Imperial city of Morocco. The old town of the Fes has been declared a world heritage site by the UNESCO. The old town or the Medina is known as Fes el Bali.

Fes el Bali is a magical location located surrounded by high walls. This is a medieval city that has nine thousand narrow streets and alleyways that simply abound in charms of a varied kind.

You will understand why Fez is such a popular destination and you will feel the vibrancy of the city. The significance of Fez as a spiritual as well as cultural capital of the country is seen in all its wonder at most locations in the city.

Fes has a newer part that is known as the ville Nouvelle. This was completely constructed by the French, and a world apart from the old town or the medina. This is beautiful enough, with wide boulevards.

You will have modern shops and amenities but will have to deal with traffic. There are not many sights at the newer part of Fes. However, most large Westernized hotels are situated in this area, so if you prefer these, you can stay here.

The Best Period to Visit Fes . . .

The bets period to visit Fez is from Apr to Jun and Sept to Nov. The climate at this time is not that hot and the number of tourists is also low. June is when the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music kicks off, and this is definitely a good reason to come here at the time.

What to See in Fes

Fes el – Bali

Fes el Bali is certainly the key attraction of Fes. The entire old town or medina is an attraction of its own. You can experience the main sights of the old town by hiring a guide to take you on a nice tour.

You can do this by hiring a guide through your Riad or hotel. About 250 dirhams would be enough for one full day. Specifically tell your guide that you do not wish to buy a carpet, unless you do, of course. Also, you can tell him or her what language you prefer as well as the main sights you want to see.

Once you are comfortable getting lost, it is possible to go sightseeing without a guide. Moe often than not, friendly shopkeepers or passersby will point you on your way. Good maps can also be depended on.
