Porto Novo in Benin is the main city and is the most interesting Benin towns and is belongs to the period when the Portuguese used to use it as a base for purchasing slaves who were brought from the New World. Then you have Cotonou in Benin which is again a very important city here. Cotonou is the centre of economic activity and has some interesting places to visit. The Ouidah slave part which is a very historical place is around 40 kms from Cotonou.
